Creating accidental encounters through movement.

​

Imagining a school which stages for different scenarios as child moves from one place to another. The scenarios are a collection of activities, gatherings and movements designed to evoke thoughts and actions essential in a child’s development. The idea ventures into the possibility of instances, that could occur within a certain space, by creating a series of potential events and activities, termed accidental encounters among children. This implies that a certain configuration in spaces could emulate  these instances of interaction which can positively charge a child’s thought process especially in a school environment. These interactions are thought as a consequence of the unfolding nature of the series of spaces just like a game of scrabble, opening endless number of possibilities.

Series Of Thresholds 

​

Architecture tries to create a series of thresholds through vertical connections and landscape to increase the curiosity in a student. There is a play in volumes of the ancillary spaces throughout the school to connect blocks of similar size. Articulating  the physical thresholds through interior spaces, and creating an enclosure that is best suited for individual learning experience.

01. Distribution of the activities on site based on their functional performance

02. A gird of 36m x24m is created by repitition of 6m x 12m modules. The same block is repeated and arranged as per  the site condition. The structure remains the same in four blocks, and the natural mounds and slopes aid in breaking the monotony in the organization in this forest of columns. And these thresholds help to increase the curiosity in the student.

03. Multiple organizations are formed and grouped based on their functional performance. In the ground level, significant landscape elements are  created to increase the curiosity and to achieve a safe envelope. The first level of the campus is connected by a promenade that plays a significant role in the accidental encounters.

Elements
Series of porous curved walls create a sense of enclosure in a free space, and also encourages the probability of accidental encounters through visual connections.
